There are some basics to determining whether the offer is right for DRTV!  Not every product or service that makes it to air is a success, but you can improve your odds tremendously by considering the following questions:

  • Cost:  should be < 20% of the retail selling price.
  • Selling message can be understood clearly – in 60 seconds.
  • National distribution – wide appeal.
  • Solve a problem?  Have a high “perceived value” to price?
  • Lead-generator for 2-step sale, or a direct-to-viewer sale.
  • Possible upsell into additional products?
  • IS there retail store distribution?  If not, infomercial can help drive retail distribution from new brand awareness from infomercial
